Children's Complex Health Care Support Worker (Community) Do you have a background in caring for children with complex health needs? (Essential) If you have answered yes to all of these questions this exciting opportunity could be for you. The Children's Continuing care team is a service within Bradford, supporting families with children who have complex health needs. The service allows families some much needed respite time. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Children's Complex Health Care Support Worker to join our friendly team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Children's Continuing Care Service within the Children's Community Nursing Team, working in children's own homes & education settings.

They will offer respite care to children with complex health needs/ additional needs and/or life limiting conditions. Some children will be dependent on a ventilator; have a tracheostomy; an unstable airway/unstable condition; have complex seizures; are oxygen dependent; enterally fed (e.g gastrostomy/nasogastric tube); or may have a terminal illness.

Working without direct supervision and undertaking interventions for which they are deemed competent, they will be responsible for implementing and maintaining high standards of health care, as planned and directed by registered nursing staff. They will also be responsible for providing social interaction and play activities.

The service is required over a 24 hour period across Bradford and Airedale District: therefore, flexible working is an essential part of this role. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is also essential.

It is expected that the post holder will cover the needs of the 24 hour service, over 365 days a year. This includes shift work, nights, weekends & bank holidays.

They may be required to work within the wider Children's Community Nursing Service, supporting nurses on home visits, and supporting the Children's Wards to meet the demands of the service within the Trust.
