Job Summary
The Salaried GP will provide high-quality primary care services to the registered patient population at Biddulph Valley Surgery. The role involves managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions through face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations.
The post holder will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centred care, while contributing to the overall development and smooth running of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions
- Provide appropriate treatment, prescribing, and follow-up care
- Undertake home visits where clinically necessary
- Review laboratory results, clinical correspondence, and patient records
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous medical records
Patient Care
- Deliver a high standard of patient-centred care
- Promote health prevention and wellbeing
- Ensure continuity of care for patients where appropriate
- Safely manage clinical risk and escalate concerns when required
Administrative Responsibilities
- Process prescriptions, referrals, and medical reports
- Manage incoming clinical correspondence efficiently
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation
- Prioritise workload effectively within allocated sessions
Teamworking and Practice Contribution
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff
- Participate in regular practice and clinical meetings
- Support the efficient running and organisation of the practice
- Contribute to a positive and supportive working environment
Teaching and Training
- Support the supervision and teaching of GP trainees and medical students
- Contribute to the development of a learning culture within the practice
Quality, Governance, and Professional Development
- Work in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice and NHS guidelines
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and significant event analysis
- Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and appraisal requirements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant clinical governance and safeguarding policies
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in Primary Care Network (PCN) activities where required
- Support service development and innovation within the practice

Person Specification (Summary)
Essential:
- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and licence to practise
- Strong clinical knowledge and decision-making skills
