Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and clinically skilled Nursing Associate to join our primary care team.The post holder will provide patient-centred care under the supervision of registered professionals.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide patient-centred care under the supervision of registered professionals, with particular responsibility for delivering cervical smear tests (or a willingness to take on further training), administering injections(or a willingness to take on further training), phlebotomy, NHS Health Checks and contributing to the day-to-day delivery of general practice services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake cervical smear (cytology) tests in line with national guidelines and protocols.
- Administer a range of injections, including:
- Childhood immunisations (as appropriate)
- Flu and COVID-19 vaccines
- Travel vaccinations
- Vitamin B12 injections
- Perform basic wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures or clips.
- Record and monitor vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
- Perform ECGs, urinalysis, and phlebotomy (if trained).
- Assist in health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using practice systems (EMIS).
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols and contribute to clinical audits and stock management.

- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
- Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense.
- A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post.
- A commitment to ensure all Health and Safety requirements and Infection Control measures are met and to report any problems to the Practice Manager.
- A commitment to the effective use of practice and NHS resources.
- An awareness of own limitations and experience.
- To work only in accordance with the UKCC Code of Conduct and within the Scope of Professional Practice.
- To have a written professional development plan and to maintain an up to date portfolio which meets the requirements of registration with the UKCC.
- To cooperate with annual appraisal meetings.

Hedena Health is a GP Surgery based in Headington, Oxford and has approx. 26,000 patients with diverse and interesting populations.
We are in an ideal location in Oxford next to the beautiful Bury Knowle Park, with free onsite parking for staff.
