Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist - IHTT Airedale Bradford District Care NHS Foundation TrustLocation: Airedale Centre for Mental Health
To provide a high standard of care for service users within the Acute Community Services in Bradford and Airedale.
Occupational Therapists working within the Acute Community Service provide clinical risk and mental health assessment, formulation and short-term contingency planning for people presenting in mental health crisis.
Working within the community, Occupational Therapists provide a range of face-to-face brief, solution focused interventions empowering service users, carers and their families in decision making and signpost to a range of health and social care resources for support.
To be involved ongoing development of innovative and tailored Occupational Therapy services to support adults, including older age adults, within an acute mental health setting.
To be involved in the completion of generic assessments, interventions, risk and safety management plans with patients under the Intensive Home Treatment Team.
Main duties of the job
o To work as within the team with responsibility forassessment, implementation and evaluation of care forclient group. o Ensures good communication between the multidisciplinaryteam, patients, families and carers. o The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms ofcare without direct supervision within their ProfessionalCode of Practice. o Act as a mentor to students, support newly qualified staffthrough preceptorship and be responsible for implementingthe appraisal process. o Ensure that contemporaneous records are keep whichreflect the status and interventions of patients to provide anaccurate record of the patient journey and provideoral/written clinical reports as required. o Ensure agreed standards of care are achieved andsafeguarding patients is central to daily care. o To work co-operatively, actively with users/carers of theservice. o Act as a resource person on clinical matters for colleagueswithin their area of expertise. o To liaise with other agencies/members of the multidisciplinary team as required. o Ensure care delivery is in accordance with currentlegislation. o Alert senior staff of staffing issues, performance issues andto celebrate good practice. o Report on incidents/untoward occurrences/accidents as perTrust policy. o You are required to work across all sites within the AdultMental Health Acute Care Service.
