Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health Team based at South Pembrokeshire Hospital in Pembroke Dock. This role provides the chance to work in a supportive and forward-looking environment, delivering high-quality care to adults in both community and inpatient settings.

You will play a central role in shaping the future of mental health care in Pembrokeshire, working closely with a passionate multidisciplinary team. Together, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based care to meet the needs of our local population. As part of the role, you will contribute to teaching and training, supporting medical students and junior staff, while also engaging in audit, research, and service development. With strong links to Swansea and Cardiff Universities, there are excellent opportunities to develop sub-specialty interests and to participate in innovative research projects that improve patient outcomes.

Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical leadership across community and inpatient services, helping to shape the future of adult mental health care in Pembrokeshire. Working closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will ensure services are compassionate, evidence-based, and responsive to the needs of our local population.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering high-quality clinical care in Adult General Psychiatry
  • Leading and supporting the multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to teaching, training, and research activities
  • Applying expertise in assessment, treatment, and community management
  • Supporting the development of medical students, junior doctors, and wider staff
  • Participating in CPD, audit, and service improvement initiatives
