About Cygnet Paddocks

Cygnet Paddocks is our specialist neuropsychiatric rehabilitation hospital for men, located in Widnes in the North West. The service provides a dedicated care pathway for men affected by acquired brain injury or neurological conditions, where behaviours that challenge may be the main barrier to recovery and rehabilitation.

The service supports the Level 1 Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation Pathway for the North West, with a focus on adult males. Cygnet Paddocks has individually designed wards to support a clear and distinctive care and treatment pathway for people affected by acquired brain injury.

The in-house interdisciplinary team includes neuropsychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, nurses and support workers, all working together to keep the individual at the heart of their care and discharge planning.

Cygnet Paddocks is rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission, with the Caring domain rated Outstanding.

A role for people with mental health experience

This role is ideal for someone who already has experience in a mental health, healthcare, care,rehabilitationor support setting.

Shift Pattern

You'll work a structured rota across days, nights and alternate weekends.

Your rota will include:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Day shifts: 8:00am to 8:30pm
  • Night shifts: 8:00pm to 8:30am

This pattern gives you consistency, regular days off and the opportunity to build strong working relationships with colleagues and service users.

Your Day-to-Day

As a Support Worker at Cygnet Paddocks, you'll play a key role in supporting men through their recovery and rehabilitation journey.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Offering enhanced care using a flexible and person-centred approach
  • Providing guidance and encouragement through physical and emotional support
  • Building positive, professional and therapeutic relationships
  • Learning about each individuals specific needs and supporting them in the most appropriate way
  • Assisting with medical, physical and welfare needs
  • Reporting medical and welfare concerns as required
  • Supporting safeguarding practices and maintaining professional boundaries
  • Helping to maintain a safe, clean and therapeutic environment
  • Supporting individuals with daily routines, independence and rehabilitation goals
  • Working closely with nurses, clinicians and wider professionals to deliver outstanding care
