The Oaks Medical is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our prescription system.

Working alongside experienced Clinical Pharmacists, pharmacy technician, prescription clerk, GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals, you will play a key role in supporting medicines optimisation, improving prescribing safety and enhancing patient outcomes across our practice population of almost 12,000 patients.
The post is a fixed term 12 month contract. There is a potential for the role to become permanent following the fixed term period, subject to organisational requirements and satisfactory performance.
The role is part time, however exact hours and salary are negotiable for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The role offers a varied mix of patient-facing and non-patient-facing responsibilities, including medication reviews, medicines reconciliation, document processing, repeat prescribing support, high-risk medicines monitoring, patient queries, Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC) optimisation, clinical audits and quality improvement projects.
Job description
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the supervision of the Pharmacy team, and GPs to support the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centered care across the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting medicines optimisation and prescribing safety initiatives.
- Undertaking medication reviews and medicines reconciliation.
- Processing incoming letters relating to medication.
- Managing repeat prescribing processes and responding to medication queries.
- Supporting high-risk medicines monitoring, including Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC) optimisation.
- Completing clinical searches, audits and quality improvement projects.
- Supporting delivery of QOF, Enhanced Services and medicines optimisation initiatives.
- Working collaboratively with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Nurses, Community Pharmacies and Secondary Care providers.
- Supporting care home medicines optimisation and transfer of care processes.
- Contributing to service development and continuous improvement across the practice.
- Following Infection Prevention and Control guidelines.
- Raising safeguarding concerns where appropriate, relating to medications or other issues.
