Job summary

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a passionate, forward thinking Nursing Associate to join our Nursing Team and work alongside our multidisciplinary workforce at Riverside Surgery. We are a busy practice serving a diverse range of patients (11,700 approx) in the centre of High Wycombe.

Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills and ensure high quality care is given as well as provide a high standard of general nursing care to all patients, ensuring that they are treated with dignity and respect while promoting a safe environment.

Main duties of the job

You will maintain a high professional standard of nursing care in adherence to all Practice policies, protocols and guidelines. It is essential that the Nursing Associate works within their own level of competency and expand their role in accordance with practice requires and own scope of practice.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Providing wound care and dressings
  • Perform and record clinical observations such as BP, temperature, respiration rate, pulse including appropriate coding
  • Provide a range of injections (B12, depo etc) and vaccinations (flu, covid, RSV etc), venepuncture and other relevant clinical tasks as required and in line with the competencies of the role
  • Promote health and wellbeing to all patients, for example undertaking the NHS health check
  • Support long term care planning for our patients with chronic diseases e.g. care and support planning, serious mental illness reviews etc
  • If competent we would also ask you to perform smear tests and baby immunisations.

About us

We are a large, friendly GP training Practice based near the town centre of High Wycombe. The surgery was purpose built in 1991 and we offer a large range of services. We have over 11,700 registered patients of all ages. We have a diverse population group of varying ethnicity. Our list is open and we welcome new patients living in the area.

We have a large clinical team (4 Partners, 4 salaried GPs, 2 Nurse Specialists, two nursing associates and a paramedic). We have a strong admin/non-clinical team who provide excellent support alongside. This job opportunity has arisen following a re-organisation of the clinical nurse team and retirement of a colleague.
