SPECIALIST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (Children's Expert Team)

Band 6: £39,959 - £48,117 (pro rata)

22.5 Hours per week

Fixed Term - 6 Months - Possibility of extending

Location - North Kirklees (covering Dewsbury, Batley and Spenborough)

Main duties of the job

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Children's Community Speech and Language Therapy Service as a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, on a temporary contract. You will be working with children with complex Eating Drinking and Swallowing, and Communication needs across a range of community settings including Child Development Centre, mainstream schools, Special Schools, early year's settings and homes in North Kirklees.

You will assess, diagnose and deliver care to children and young people with eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) and speech, language and communication needs.

You will work independently and as a member of the wider MDT to work collaboratively and to provide relevant and child-centred support to families and key colleagues across health, education and social care.

Experience of having worked with children with EDS and complex SLCN across a range of settings is considered essential as is having a relevant degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.

You will work as part of the Children's Community Team, which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Children's Community Nursing, alongside a highly supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists.

Induction, training, professional development and regular supervision will be available to the successful applicant.

This post is subject to a DBS check and you must be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post.
