Job summary

The post-holder will provide GP out of hours general medical services in the out of hoursperiod and deal with a wide range of health needs in the urgent care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all service users.

There is an expectation that the post holder will be available to work shifts during the operational hours of the service including evenings, weekends, overnights, bank holidays and PLT afternoons as well as supporting with additional cover during periods of absence within the salaried GP team . Main duties of the job

1. Manage the medical requirements of patients who contact the service.2. Assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for the population of West Cheshire in the out ofhours period.3. In accordance with the service rota as agreed, the post-holder will undertake clinical sessions at allbases including face-to-face appointments, telephone advice and visiting patients at home. Requiredshifts include evenings, weekends, night shifts and bank holidays. A minimum of working twoweekends per month and 4 of the 8 bank holidays will be included in the rota. These duties should beperformed in a timely manner using agreed protocols. 4. Support clinical streaming within the A&E Department as rostered.5. Appointments will be 10 minutes duration and telephone advice will be offered as appropriate. Astudent or GP registrar maybe attached for these sessions.6. Undertake sessions in accordance with the access needs of the CCG population and the contractualobligation of the service.7. Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination,investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.8. Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice.9. Provide medical support as required to patients referred by nursing staff.
