Job summary

The Community Brain Injury Team (CBIT) is a supportive, motivated and experienced team of clinicians including, in addition to this speech and language therapy post, a physiotherapist, occupational therapist (also team lead), psychologist and rehabilitation worker. We work collaboratively towards person centred goals. We are supported by an admin hub.

CBIT is a specialist service providing neuro rehabilitation to adults affected by brain injury. CBIT is provided by the NHS Kent and Medway Mental Health Trust.

The Community Brain Injury Team's mission statement is to provide high quality neuro rehabilitation to adults affected by brain injury living in the community. Our service addresses the physical, psychological and social consequences of brain injury. Working with the client, family and carers we offer personalised care plans and collaborative goal setting to facilitate enablement and adjustment to promote effective self-management.

The speech and language therapy postholder will work embedded within the well-regarded Community Brain Injury Team to provide specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to optimise the communication of the service users.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide expert speech and language therapy assessment andrehabilitation to service users of the Community Brain Injury Team (CBIT)- To provide a consistently high standard of goal-orientated treatmentprogrammes for patients with complex neuro-rehabilitation needs.-To ensure excellent communication and guidance to the clinical team,patients, carers and families on the communication needs of the person to optimise their recovery and function.

Job description

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
