Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, computer literate Practice Nurse with a minimum of 2-3 years experience of working in General Practice. Applicants need to possess the relevant skills and qualifications in the following areas:

  • Respiratory,
  • Wound Management,
  • Cervical Cytology,
  • Childhood Immunisations,
  • Travel Immunisations,
  • Venepuncture.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive range of nursing services to our patient population and play a key role in the ongoing delivery of chronic disease management and preventative healthcare.

The role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Chronic disease management, including respiratory conditions (asthma and COPD), diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension.
  • Respiratory reviews, inhaler technique assessments and patient education.
  • Cervical cytology
  • Contraception
  • Immunisations and vaccinations.
  • Wound care and dressings.
  • General Practice Nurse treatment room duties.
  • Venepuncture and ECGs.

Lifestyle advice and health promotion.

  • Infection prevention and control responsibilities.

Participation in quality improvement initiatives and QOF achievement
