Job summary

Working to the Head of Digital Systems but in partnership with the Trusts Development Manager, Digital Services management team and Technical Services management team to provide technical direction, influence our overall technology roadmap as well as lead the critical component of system interoperability through the Trusts Integration Engine development. You must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and have extensive technical experience. You will be working in a friendly, flexible but relatively small team environment, where your role will also take you to all corners of the Trusts services both within and outside of the immediate hospital arena.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for all technical solutions relating to software/data Integration and interoperability between digital systems across the trust and community. This is primarily achieved through integration architecture work as part of the Trust Integration Engine. Working with the software development and systems support teams (as well as other key stakeholders).

Job description

Ensure the local configuration / solution of all systems within the software delivery service meets the business needs of the trust and community services.

To act as a contact point and offer expert advice on data and systems integration.

To provide feasibility recommendations in terms of viability for future integration solutions.

To manage solution integration across software solutions and 3rd party clinical systems through the use of interfacing products.

To actively support the transition from local legacy systems to new replacement systems, including actively participating in assessments at regional and national level where applicable.

To own the technical specifications for local in-house integration/interfacing solutions, ensuring that the in-house solutions developed align with the customer requirement and solution specification.

Leading the solution interface/integration design and overseeing implementation of new technology or technical integration solutions including new projects, enhancement or upgrades across the Trust and community.

Taking ownership of integration solutions from viability at the outset to define & design. Responsible for ensuring that the solution is delivered as it was originally defined - i.e. owning the technical vision - and that when changes are made, they are correctly raised, assessed, impacted and approved.

Ensuring that the solution holds true to the enterprise vision, working with the Strategy and Governance groups to deliver a solution compliant with trust technical strategies and policies.

To work alongside and in partnership with the Software Development Manager and Systems Support Managers taking accountability for the technical aspects of the solution delivery.

Liaise with the Technical Services team working with technical SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) DBAs, Network Designers, System Admins, etc., to define and document the integration solution architecture.

Assist the project managers / programme managers, clinical staff and Head of Digital Systems in developing project plans / delivery timeframes by identifying key activities, deliverables, impacted teams and technical dependencies and risks.

To work closely with the Test Manager to help define test plans and scripts that align with the technical specification and business requirement.

To manage technical risks within the Digital System area and to escalate where necessary to the Head of Digital Systems.

To be responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects, managing quality against specification and managing the effort including the line management of the interfacing project team to ensure that the resources are managed and monitored within the delegated budget

The Digital Integration Manager will be expected to be a source of expert knowledge across all local trust systems including appropriate cross-skilling of staff to deliver this knowledge base. This knowledge base should ensure the continued improvement of software delivery, live problem resolution and technical assurance. The post holder will be expected to make a positive contribution to the knowledge base.

Responsible for analysing and interpreting the business requirements and providing technical direction and guidance for live system integration issues.

The post holder will be involved in ensuring the smooth transition from legacy systems to new future systems, working with the systems support teams to ensure stability over complex data migration activities and overall systems integration throughout the transition / implementation.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring business continuity plans are robust and providing technical validation to the Head of Digital Systems.

Responsible for communicating complex and sensitive information to all relevant service users and managers in relation to integration issues that could impact on a service provision/reconfiguration.

The post will utilise a number of communication and presentational skills and formats, adapting as necessary to meet the needs of the service and end users.

The post holder will develop and implement Policies and Service development initiatives which impact across other services. This will include the production of service strategies, processes or policies.

To work with the Head of Digital Systems and its various teams managers to improve standards across the service and delivery lifecycle.

Participate when required in the planning meetings and user groups for services both internal and external to the organisation.

Works autonomously, work is managed not supervised and is guided by principles and broad occupational policies.

The post holder works on own initiative and is the senior point of contact and source of expert knowledge within the Digital Systems function.
