Job summary
Were on the lookout for two motivated and organised Prescription Clerks based at our Chilcompton site, you'll play a key role in managing repeat prescriptions, liaising with patients and pharmacies, and ensuring the safe and efficient processing of medication requests. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality administrative support within a patient-focused environment.
We have two part-time positions available for this role.
Working hours and the preferred work pattern will be discussed and agreed with successful candidates at interview.
Main duties of the job
- To process all repeat medication requests sent in by the patients using various protocols in place
- To complete on- line prescription requests as and when they arrive
- To liaise with patients and pharmacies regarding queries and requests
- To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place and where queries are raised and dealt with in the correct way
- To ensure patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP
- To complete repeat requests that come in via email.

Job description
To process all repeat medication requests sent in by the patients using the practice protocols in place
To complete on-line prescription requests as and when they arrive
To collect repeat prescription requests from Reception and the post box and any other way they may arrive at the surgery
To liaise with patients and pharmacies regarding queries and requests and to pass on information from clinicians or patients.
To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are in place and where queries are raised and dealt with in the correct way
To ensure patient queries on medication that are outside practice protocols are highlighted to the relevant GP or clinician for their action.
To complete repeat requests that come in via email.
To review and action daily tasks that include requests from District Nurses, straightforward dossette box changes and communication of medication changes to the pharmacies and/or patients.
Ensure interim medication for the local care homes are actioned promptly alongside their monthly residents repeat medication requests.
Forward date the weekly controlled medication for patients to ensure compliance and reduce over-ordering.
Complete medicine management in line with prescription clerk course
Attend and participate in any team or whole practice meetings when required. These may be on days you do not normally work, however you will be at times expected to attend and overtime will be paid. Notice for such meetings will be given in advance.
To take part in full in the appraisal and training structures of the practice including ensuring all mandatory training is in date.
Provide administrative support to the management team as requested.
Other duties as requested from time to time.
