Job summary

The 18-25 Psychology Service (North East Essex) is looking to welcome a registered therapist (e.g. CBT, DBT Therapist) or Clinical/Counselling/Practitioner Psychologist for afull-time maternity cover for 7 months or part-time 12 months post (secondment or fixed term).

You would be joining a psychology team of CAP, psychologists and psychological therapists supporting young adults experiencing difficulties related to complex trauma, emotional dysregulation, and a wide range of other mental health challenges.

Our service was established to bridge the gap between primary and secondary care and to reduce barriers that young people often face in accessing psychological therapy. We value a person-centred approach, co-production with young people, and continuously improving the experience of care.

In this role, you will offer psychological assessments and individual therapy to young adults. We will also be offering a DBT-informed group, and hold a bi-monthly young people's forum to shape and contribute to our service. We draw on a wide range of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of our clients.

We are looking for someone with experience in supporting individuals with complex presentations, and who is enthusiastic about contributing to the continued development of the care pathway for young adults across North East Essex.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist psychological assessment for young adults aged 18-25 presenting with complex mental health needs, including trauma-related difficulties and emotional dysregulation.
  • Deliver evidence-based individual psychological therapy, including trauma-focused interventions, and flexibly adapting therapeutic approaches to meet diverse needs (e.g., neurodiversity, complex presentations).
  • Co-facilitate group intervention, including DBT-informed group or other therapeutic group developed within the service.
  • Offer consultation and psychological advice to services seeking input, guidance or referrals into the 18-25 Psychology Service.
  • Contribute to team meetings and provide support to colleagues, contributing to reflective practice, case discussions, and service development.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation, risk management and safeguarding practices to ensure safe and person-centred care.
