Job summary
Cobbs Garden Surgery is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced clinical pharmacist, to play a full and active role within our multi-disciplinary team. This role is offered on a part-time basis for2 days per week to work with and support a pharmacy technician.
The practice believes a pharmacist is a key member of the clinical team and the successful candidate would be rewarded with a competitive salary.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Clinically assessing and treating patients, using expert knowledge of medicines, for specific disease areas;
- Providing specialist expertise in the use of medicines & medicine information;
- Providing pharmaceutical medication review and health education advice to patients, by face-to-face, telephone or notes-based review;
- Providing leadership on person-centred medicines optimisation and quality improvement;
- Contributing to public health campaigns, including flu vaccinations.
- Acting as a key contact, for all medication related queries;
- Supporting improvements in clinical care, through practice-based audits and implementing change;
- Running clinics where medicines are the main interventions;
- Conducting care-planning, including mental health, admission avoidance schemes and end-of-life patients.
- Carrying out structured medicines-optimisation reviews in care homes;
- Contributing to the reduction of medicine wastage within practice.

About us
We are a friendly practice based in the historic market town of Olney in north Buckinghamshire. We believe strongly in teamwork and individualised patient care. We look after nearly 9,000 patients in Olney and the surrounding villages. You will be supported by our team of 4 doctors, 2 ANPs, 3 practice nurses, healthcare assistant, a physiotherapist, social prescriber, healthcare assistant, reception and admin team.
The partnership encourages and supports staff development throughout our services and works closely with the training hub to ensure staff are aware of development and training opportunities within BLMK. We have an excellent PCN, Patient Participation Group and local charity who we work closely with. We are planning to build a new surgery and extend the range of services we can provide for our local community.
