Job summary

Gray's Inn Medical Group is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly motivated Physician Assistant to provide high-quality, patient-centered medical care as part of our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Working under the supervision of a licensed physician, the Physician Assistant will evaluate patients, diagnose and treat common medical conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications as authorized, and promote preventive healthcare. Main duties of the job

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, and formulating differential diagnoses.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of practice and under the supervision of the designated physician.
  • Perform cervical screening (smear tests) in line with the NHS Cervical Screening Programme and practice protocols.
  • Administer routine childhood immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with the UK National Immunisation Schedule, ensuring accurate documentation and management of vaccine storage and cold chain requirements.
  • Promote preventative healthcare through health promotion, lifestyle advice, screening programmes, and vaccination initiatives.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical emergencies, safeguarding concerns, and deteriorating patients.
  • Contribute to achieving Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and other contractual requirements where applicable.

Job description

The Physician Assistant (PA) will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team at Gray's Inn Medical Group, providing safe, effective, and patient-centred care to individuals of all ages. Working under the supervision of a designated General Practitioner (GP), the post holder will assess, examine, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute, chronic, and complex health conditions.

The post holder will provide high-quality clinical care through face-to-face, telephone, and digital consultations while promoting health, preventing disease, and supporting patients to manage their own health and wellbeing. The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive coordinated, evidence-based care.

The role includes management of acute presentations, routine appointments, long-term condition (LTC) reviews, cervical screening, childhood immunisations, preventative healthcare, health promotion, chronic disease management, care planning, and appropriate referral to secondary or community services. The Physician Assistant will contribute to the achievement of practice objectives, including Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets, enhanced services, clinical governance, and continuous quality improvement.
