Job summary

UHNM is looking for a motivated and proactive Facilities Services Supervisor to support our Domestic Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced supervisor with a passion for service excellence, and maintaining the highest standards of healthcare cleanliness

In this role, you will provide day-to-day supervision and support to Facilities Service Support Assistants, ensuring cleaning services are delivered effectively and in line with the National Cleaning Standards. You will be responsible for workforce coordination, quality monitoring, and driving continuous improvement across our domestic services operation.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage changing priorities, and is committed to delivering outstanding customer service.

The successful candidate will have experience in domestic, facilities, or cleaning services, together with strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills. Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of healthcare cleanliness standards, health and safety, and infection prevention practices would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and supporting Domestic Services staff to deliver a high-quality cleaning service.
  • Planning and coordinating workloads, staff rotas, and service priorities to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Monitoring cleanliness standards through audits, inspections, and quality checks, implementing improvement actions where required.
  • Ensuring compliance with infection prevention, health and safety, COSHH, and Trust policies and procedures.
  • Managing enhanced, discharge, barrier, and terminal cleaning requests to support patient flow and clinical services.
  • Supporting staff development through training, coaching, performance management, and attendance monitoring.
  • Maintaining stock levels of cleaning materials, equipment, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted service provision.
  • Working closely with ward managers, clinical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service and a positive patient experience.
  • Responding proactively to operational challenges, service issues, and changing priorities while maintaining service standards.
  • Providing hands-on support to the team during periods of increased demand and offering supervisory support across other Facilities Services areas when required.
