Main duties of the job

You will join a team of 27 specialist Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeons delivering a high-quality service to the local and regional population. This post will consolidate the range of specialist trauma expertise available in our Major Trauma Centre (MTC), allowing for timely access to surgery for all patients. The posts will contribute to both the on-call and trauma ward round consultant rota, allowing us to deliver a high-quality, responsive service. The post will contribute to the development of a modern and dynamic outpatient service, using virtual and tele consultations, where appropriate.

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled hip and knee orthopaedic consultant with a specialist interest in the management of trauma. The successful candidate will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical care, surgical interventions, and ongoing management for patients presenting with complex orthopaedic conditions, including major trauma injuries.

You will provide general trauma surgery, as part of their on-call activities, elective practice will not be immediately available. You will lead and participate in specialised clinics dedicated to trauma assessment, treatment planning, and post-operative follow-up. This position also requires contributing to teaching, training, and research within the orthopaedic department, fostering innovation and evidence-based practice.
