Main duties of the job

A Healthcare Assistant at John Stacey Ward, Paulton Memorial Hospital, Bristol, will be part of a valued team providing general medical and stroke rehabilitation services. The role involves patient-centered care in accordance with individual care plans, supporting daily care under a registered practitioner's guidance, promoting patient independence and dignity, and working within a multi-disciplinary team. Candidates must have a good education, possess or be willing to achieve a Care Certificate, and have experience working under supervision and supporting other workers. Main ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:

  • Support daily care and treatment under the guidance of a registered practitioner.
  • Encourage patient and carer involvement in decision-making.
  • Promote patient independence and dignity at all times.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
  • Ensure clear, respectful communication, including support for language or hearing barriers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient needs and preferences.
  • Practice effective infection control and contribute to a safe care environment.
  • Assist in clinics (e.g. dressing, fracture) and carry out delegated tasks confidently.
  • Support junior staff and seek guidance from registered staff when needed.
  • Perform select administrative duties as required.
  • Obtain appropriate consent and provide or request a chaperone when needed.
  • Uphold policies, procedures, and professional standards at all times.
