Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking and inspirational Head of Facilities who will be responsible for the operational management and delivery of Facilities (soft FM) services across Greater Manchester. You will possess strong leadership skills that positively contribute and influence the day-to-day operating of the Trust, and actively explore opportunities to improve performance and effectiveness, in a sustainable and efficient way.

Working with the Associate Director of Capital, Estates & Facilities and the CEF Senior Leadership Team, you will provide visible leadership across the organisation, driving service excellence, workforce development, innovation and continuous improvement. The post holder will be responsible for the strategic operation of a diverse range of Facilities services, including but not exclusive to catering, domestic services, waste management, switchboard, car parking, logistics, systems, security, quality and environment etc. This includes the provision of continued expert advice to clinical and corporate services on the provision of safe, high-quality and cost-effective service delivery.

The post-holder will be required to model the values and associated behaviours of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) at all times and collaborative closely with other Trust stakeholders (clinical and corporate) and external partners for the effective delivery of this role.

Main duties of the job

As Head of Facilities, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of Facilities Management services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient and customer-focused services. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and contracted providers, manage significant budgets and resources, and work closely with clinical and corporate colleagues, service users and carers to support excellent patient and staff experiences.

You will be a visible and inclusive leader, creating a positive, high-performing culture that promotes staff wellbeing, engagement, learning and continuous improvement. You will develop future leaders, drive innovation and ensure teams are equipped to meet current and future service demands.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading Facilities services including catering, domestic services, security, waste management, logistics, stores, car parking and switchboard services.
  • Driving service improvement, quality, efficiency and sustainability.
  • Managing budgets, contracts, performance, governance and risk.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, service users and external partners.
  • Creating an inclusive culture focused on wellbeing, development and accountability.
  • Developing talent and succession plans across the Facilities workforce.
  • Deputising for the Associate Director of Capital, Estates and Facilities when required.
