An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Nottingham CityCare's Integrated Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service to work 37.5 hours per week in a variety of settings.

The Integrated Respiratory and Oxygen Service are a very proactive, forward thinking and dynamic team which provide evidence-based assessment and follow up for individuals requiring urgent and routine respiratory management and provision of oxygen therapy in the community as well as rehabilitation and education in both home and clinic settings.
The team provide an acute response service alongside chronic respiratory condition management including pulmonary rehabilitation across health and social care sectors. The team provide long term and ambulatory oxygen therapy to a multitude of long-term conditions. The team is based at Aspect House but work throughout Nottingham City.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and conscientious Occupational Therapist with respiratory experience. The team would provide the successful applicant with the opportunity for postgraduate and specialist training to enable them to build on their current respiratory skills enabling them to support Respiratory patients to be independent in their community.
Interviews are expected to take place on 8th September 2026.
Main duties of the job
You will undertake routine clinical management of patients with respiratory needs in an integrated manner within the service pathway. Within the wider service you will be involved in audit, development of practice and take an active role in case management. The service is engaged in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation accreditation scheme, and you will play an active role in achieving accreditation status for the team.
You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively, also be able to work in an integrated manner and flexibly within the team and be confident in decision making. You must be willing to undertake specialist training as required. You will need to hold a valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for this role.
The Service hours are 7 days per week, 365 days per week between the hours of 8am and 7pm. The core hours are between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Job description
Job Purpose
- To work as an autonomous practitioner, you will undertake comprehensive assessments to identify and meet the health needs for Individuals under the care of the Integrated Respiratory and Home Oxygen Service, as well as being part of the MDT in pulmonary rehabilitation.
- To carry out profession specific, and holistic, assessments, care plans and evaluation as required for patients with long term respiratory conditions, as well as additional comorbidities. This will include support with activities of daily living, energy conservation and anxiety management in relation to breathlessness, including palliative support and symptoms management.
- To be responsible for continuing the ongoing development of high standards of clinical practice with evidence-based focus.
- To work as required within IROS, liaising with patients, families and social services to assess individuals.
Dimensions
- Responsible for Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for a defined clinical caseload appropriate to the service area.
- Able to fulfil physical demands of role, including manual handling applications.
- Will be required to travel city-wide for client visits, meetings and training.
- To participate in pulmonary rehabilitation programmes with the MDT
- To carry out training of other members of staff as required.
- Support senior colleagues with the facilitation of student placements.

Leadership
1. To support the Team Manager in implementing and evaluating targets and objectives to assist in the ongoing development of the whole service.
2. To advise the Team Manager in relation to clinical needs of the client group.
3. To take delegated responsibility for management duties as required.
4. To ensure the health & safety of self and others at all times in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and City Care policy and procedures.
5. To use information technology on a daily basis and participate in identified data collection and statistics and to maintain clear, concise and timely records in line with the service policy.
6. To demonstrate flexibility, prioritise effectively and time manage self, supporting others to do the same. Be able to delegate appropriately.
7. To participate in the Lone Worker Tracking procedure as applies to the team.
8. To act as duty clinician for the process of referrals.
9. To undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required
Clinical Skills
1. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your work, including the management of clients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the clients.
2. To gain valid informed consent and to identify through assessment clients who lack capacity. To work within a legal framework with clients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.
3. To undertake advanced comprehensive assessment and evaluation of adults presenting with a wide variety of respiratory, complex physical and mental health needs, utilising a high level of investigative and analytical skills.
4. To be responsible for carrying a client caseload and to provide highly specialist clinical reasoning in assessing, devising and evaluating individualised goals with clients.
5. To be responsible for coordinating the safe and timely discharge process the service as appropriate.
6. To be responsible for delivering patient care in a pulmonary rehabilitation setting including supporting with an exercise programme and delivering education sessions.
7. To risk assess, advise and where appropriate provide equipment including teaching clients / carers in its use.
8. To provide highly specialist advice and education to other members of the MDT around current best practice and evidence-based practice regarding the clinical management of respiratory clients. To drive quality, clinical service improvement and clinical excellence.
9. To be responsible for own continuing professional development keeping abreast of new trends and developments. Attend relevant conferences and training courses, supporting junior staff to do the same. Incorporate new developments into clinical practice.
10. To participate in the supervision framework as a supervisee and a supervisor, including the appraisal process. To be able to set own objectives and evaluate own learning and that of more junior staff.
11. To be a clinical educator for undergraduate students on University placements, supervising, educating and measuring their performance against the standards set by the degree level qualification.
12. To undertake CityCare's competencies.
