Job summary

Are you a passionate mental health clinician looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people, and their families? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) team.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based clinical interventions across our locality teams, crisis teams, Single Point of Access (SPA), or Neurodevelopmental & Learning Disability pathways. Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in early identification, community-based care, and supporting school staff to build a less stigmatising environment for mental health support.

You will receive dedicated clinical supervision from Care Pathway Leads, Senior Psychological Practitioners, or Specialist Leads (including Nurse, SALT, OT, or ASW leads) to support your practice. Additionally, you will support peers and provide line management and clinical supervision to CYPMHS Mental Health Workers, fostering a culture of collaborative working across health, education, and social care agencies.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver Clinical Interventions: Provide evidence-based clinical interventions tailored to individual care pathways within CYPMHS locality, crisis, SPA, or Neurodevelopmental & LD teams.
  • Early Identification & Prevention: Identify emerging mental health difficulties early to help prevent more serious problems, delivering accessible care directly to young people and families.
  • Assessments & Community Care: Undertake initial school- and community-based assessments and deliver targeted interventions for children and young people experiencing emotional and psychological challenges.
  • Measure & Track Outcomes: Routinely measure and evaluate clinical outcomes in line with CYP-IAPT principles and clinical governance standards.
  • Support Schools & Partners: Work closely with school staff where appropriate to raise awareness, knowledge, and understanding of emotional and mental well-being services.
  • Supervision & Team Leadership: Provide compassionate line management and clinical supervision to CYPMHS Mental Health Workers, while actively engaging in your own regular clinical supervision with senior leads.
  • Collaborative Working: Work on your own initiative while remaining an active, collaborative team member, liaising closely with partner agencies across health and social care.

Job description

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
