Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 physiotherapist or experienced Band 5 to join the Physiotherapy department at Royal Papworth Hospital. We are seeking an individual who is confident, flexible and able to work independently within multiple clinical teams.

You will join a skilled, supportive and innovative Physiotherapy team that works closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. Royal Papworth Hospital is recognised internationally for excellence in cardiothoracic care, providing a collaborative environment where continuous learning, service improvement and professional development are actively encouraged.

Rotations are in the following areas - Transplant & Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic & PEA Surgery, Intensive Care Unit, Respiratory Medicine wards and outpatient clinics (including Bronchiectasis, ILD, & Pulmonary Hypertension) and Cystic Fibrosis.

You will also gain experience in Respiratory Support Sleep Centre and cardiology services, what we provide to you:

Support and teaching to enable you to provide excellent patient care across all rotational areas

Specialist departmental and team in service training

Regular one to ones, clinical supervision, appraisals, and competency support

In house courses and access to external courses and conferences

Advanced skill teaching and support including ECMO rehabilitation, mechanical circulatory devices, nebulised drug challenges, tracheostomy weaning and decannulation.

Participation in audits and research.

Support and guidance for you to mentor students and junior staff.

This post is a fixed term, 0.6WTE role, and will include twilight/weekend/on call duties.

Main duties will include:

To undertake an independent comprehensive, assessment of patients who have a wide variety of clinical presentations with a range of complexities.

To effectively manage own clinical caseload, support others daily and prioritise workload accordingly.

To effectively communicate and integrate Physiotherapy treatment plans to a wide range of health professionals involved in the patients care.

To have an awareness of evidence-base and current developments and how this impacts clinical practice.

To undertake an independent comprehensive, assessment of patients who have a wide variety of clinical presentations with a range of complexities.

To actively participate and lead sessions in team and departmental learning opportunities including in-service training (IST) sessions, clinical supervision and education.

To participate and lead with relevant audit, service improvement projects (SIP), and research with support from senior staff.
