Job summary

Working for our Hebden Bridge Furniture shop, the post holder will organise and carry out deliveries and collections of furniture and saleable items from donors throughout Calderdale.

The post holder will be a representative in the community, so we expect them to always behave professionally and integrate into the community.

Main duties of the job

Collect/Deliver donated items, whilst taking measures to prevent any loss/damage of goods, to and from our charity shops, primarily the Hebden Bridge Furniture Shop.

Organise the collection/delivery service of items including furniture to ensure all customers donated items are collected as soon as possible ensuring they are in a fit condition for sale and have fire labels if needed.

Open and close the shop, if necessary, when the Shop Manager is unavailable.

You will be required to engage in manual handling tasks, including loading/unloading the van of furniture, bags and boxes of donated stock. Training and guidance helping you to take responsibility on safe manual handling practices, health and safety and infection control will be provided to ensure your safety and wellbeing.

Work with volunteer van drivers and drivers mates to ensure all collections are carried our safely ensuring all health, safety and manual handling guidelines are always adhered to. This includes loading furniture into customers' vehicles

Assisted with sales ensuring a high level of customer service at all times whilst promoting the Retail Gift Aid scheme.

To assist the Shop Manager in recruiting/training volunteers in the stock procurement operation.

Always drive in a competent manner and carry out daily routine maintenance/cleaning checks on vans (tyres, oil, water, etc)

To report accidents and incidents in a timely manner to the Shop Manager ensuring that the Hospice's exposure to risk is minimised.
