We are looking for a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated team providing therapy for the people of Cornwall who are at the start of their journey on the Stroke Pathway.
If you enjoy working as part of a cohesive MDT, delivering high quality evidence-based Therapy to stroke patients and have a positive can-do attitude, this will be an excellent role for you.
Main duties of the job
As an autonomous practitioner the post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist, evidence based SLT assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adult patients admitted with a stroke and other conditions in the acute service.
To be able to manage and prioritise SLT referrals and caseload for patients admitted with stroke on the acute stroke unit and other wards according to departmental guidelines.
To be responsible for independent triage of referrals, assessment and management of patients as a lone SLT when working weekends. This will include weekend working on a rota basis and participation in inpatient service bank holiday rota.
To be able to provide and receive effective clinical and service handover into/out of weekends
Deliver education and training to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals including nursing staff, therapists and assistants.
To source or develop appropriate therapy and training resources as required.
To input routine data into the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP) via capture stroke.
To help to support and/or establish Research and Development in speech and language therapy and engage in clinical audit
RCHT is working towards seven day service delivery and the post holder will be required to work on a rota for weekends and bank holidays
