The post holder will work with the Specialist Midwife for Perinatal Mental Health, working collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team. The working hours are generally office hours.
This is a cross-site role, with the post holder working across Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI) and Bassetlaw District General Hospital (BDGH) as required to meet service needs.
The post holder is key to developing and maintaining high standards of care for women with mental health problems in pregnancy and the postnatal period, and their families.
You will have a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills to manage, develop and support pregnant women and new mothers with mental health needs.
You will be responsible for providing care to some pregnant women with significant mental health problems in partnership with the Perinatal Mental Health Team.
You will work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs.
You will support the development of relevant pathways, policies and processes for women with, or at risk of, mental illness. This will involve working with a range of relevant professionals, services and agencies.
Main duties of the job
To provide care for pregnant women and those in the postnatal period with significant mental health problems.
Support, assist and advise women with, or at risk of, significant perinatal mental illness and their families, working with women to develop individual care plans and making referrals to additional specialist support when required.
Act as an advocate for women to ensure they receive the specialist mental health care they require
Liaise with midwives, the multi-disciplinary team, mental health services and other services and partner agencies, to ensure that women with mental health issues are receiving effective care.
Provide evidence-based advice, support and information regarding the appropriate management and referral of women with mental health problems and their families.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with mental health services and partner agencies external to the Trust.
