We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse  to join our Primary Care team at HMP Altcourse a category B Prison located in Fazakerley, Liverpool.

HMP Altcourse is the busiest remand prison in the country, so there's lots going on in this exciting, varied role, where you will gain valuable experience, and no 2 days are ever the same!

As a Primary Care Nurse, you will be based across multiple areas of the prison, including the healthcare department, planned care services, prison wings, and emergency response and a background ideally in A&E and long term conditions.

HMP Altcourse offers:

  • Onsite parking
  • Career & development opportunities

Hours:

  • Monday - Sunday service - 37.5 hours per week
  • 7am - 8pm
  • 1 weekend in 3
  • Rota's are done 2 months in advance
  • Very occasional nights

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £34,428 - £41,658 per annum FTE depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
  • Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Registered nurse Adult - NMC
