Job summary

This is a unique opportunity to join the Clinical Health and Neuropsychology community service. The service provides psychological support for adults referred to ECP who have a range of conditions including chronic pain, musculoskeletal disorder, diabetes, pulmonary disease, acquired brain injury and neurological disorders.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who will take a lead role in overseeing and delivering chronic pain pathway for patients referred primarily from musculoskeletal services, but this may also include referrals from other conditions involving pain, such as chronic fatigue. The postholder will offer individual assessments, one-to-one therapeutic work and will be involved in the delivery of an evidence-based pain management programme (including working closely with a pain physio and art therapist). They will work closely with their physiotherapy colleagues to identify suitable patients for psychological intervention, promote psychologically informed practice, and provide supervision, training and consultation on psychological aspects of pain management to other health professionals and psychologists in the service.

The role will include opportunties to carry out work with patients with a range health conditions and develop links with Ealing Talking Therapy.

Main duties of the job

Leadership:

Lead the chronic pain management pathway within MSK service in the community in Ealing

Supervise a band 7 psychologist, a band 7 art therapist and pain physiotherapists who co-lead the Pain Management Programme (group therapy)

Continue to advocate for better integration with the MSK team including joining MDTs, offering appropriate education and training to the physiotherapists, promoting routine mental health screening.

Clinical:

Triage referrals and offer bio-psycho-social assessments, sometimes as an MDT with the physiotherapist

Run the pain management programme

Offer 1:1 psychotherapy

Attending weekly clinical health psychology team/clinic meetings

Receiver fortnightly to monthly supervision from principal clinical health psychologist

Service evaluation, development and improvement:

Conduct quality improvement projects as needed.

Prepare quarterly performance dashboards to show process and outcome data
