Role: Finance Lead
Location: Melksham (on site)
Type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 18 22.5 hours per week
This exciting role will support the Practice Manager in the management and coordination of all aspects of the organisation's finances, optimising efficiency, improving financial performance, and ensuring the achievement of the practice's long term strategic objectives.
In this permanent role, your responsibilities will support the day-to-day financial operations of the practice to optimise efficiency and financial performance in line with financial compliance. You will provide accurate financial information to the Practice Manager to support decision making and help ensure the practice remains profitable, efficient, and financially sustainable.
The successful candidate will drive achievement of NHS financial targets and respond proactively to changes within the primary care environment. They will work closely with the management team to promote equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I), safety, health, environment and fire (SHEF), quality improvement, confidentiality, collaborative working, service excellence, and learning and development. The postholder will also support the organisation in meeting all relevant regulatory and governance requirements, including compliance with CQC standards.
Main duties of the job
- Supporting the Practice Manager with the day to day financial management of the practice, ensuring accurate financial records and robust financial controls.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring invoices are processed promptly and income is maximised.
- Maintain financial systems, including Sage, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, management accounts, and financial reports for the Practice Manager and Partners.
- Monitor and analyse income and expenditure, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Support year end financial processes and liaise with external accountants.
- Oversee payroll, pensions, PAYE, and partner drawings in collaboration with outsourced providers.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with NHS organisations, PCSE, ICB, PCN, NHS Pensions, and other key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and efficiencies.
- Act as the practice's lead contact for finance related matters and contribute to audits, management meetings, and relevant external forums.
