Main duties of the job

As a Care Coordinator for Prescriptions at Cricketfield Surgery, Newton Abbot, your role is to promptly handle requests for repeat prescriptions, ensure there are no complaints of missing or incorrect prescriptions, and oversee the electronic prescription service. You will work closely with the lead GP and Pharmacist to streamline processes and patient information, assist with overflow calls during busy times, and provide administrative support for the Patient Services Team. Candidates should have experience in public/customer care, ideally within Primary Care, and possess excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. Awareness of confidentiality in the workplace and the ability to undertake tasks requiring significant initiative are crucial.

Main Responsibilities: As a valued member of the Operose Health team, your key duties will include:

  • Promptly action requests for repeat prescriptions following the 48 hours prescribing process.
  • Action all requests for prescriptions that come in via SystmOne on line.
  • Action prescription requests via work flow and Tasks on SystmOne.
  • Aim for no reports/complaints of missing or wrong prescriptions Fully investigate any incidents that do occur and establish what has gone wrong with the process and discuss with the line manager/lead GP and feedback learning to team members via meetings and huddles.
  • Oversee the electronic prescription service to ensure it is running smoothly and respond to any queries from Pharmacies or clinicians.
  • Work with the lead GP and Pharmacist to streamline processes and patient information.
  • Make sure the message feature on prescriptions is used to best effect and kept up to date and relevant.
  • Assist with the overflow of calls from the appointments desks at busy times.
  • To maintain adaptability and be able to provide administration support for the Patient Services Team during staff absences and other pressure points.
  • Be prepared to work amongst different teams that may involve working across different sites

Ideal Candidate: What we look for in new colleagues:

  • Able to undertake a range of tasks, some of which requires significant initiative
  • Experience dealing with public/customer care
  • Experience within Primary Care
  • GCSEs A-D or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Awareness of confidentiality in the workplace
  • Excellent IT Skills, including Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel and Word
