The Mandeville Practice, a dynamic and growing practice in Bucks, has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate would maintain our values of excellent patient care and join our vision of meeting the health needs of our diverse population. Previous experience of working as a HCA in a NHS GP Practice would be advantageous.
The successful candidate would work as part of an excellent administrative and a multidisciplinary clinical team (including GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Clinical Pharmacists).

Working hours: Minimum 37.5 hours per week
Main duties of the job
To assist in patient care and practice related duties as directed by and under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional. The post holder will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work under supervision of the clinicians in providing patient care
2. Assist in Minor Surgery Clinics
3. Run Chronic Disease Management Clinics
Job description
Primary Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of thehealthcareassistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Undertake new patient and NHS health checks
- Support thepracticenursewith health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
- Undertake woundcare, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
- Support thepracticenursewith the management of chronic disease clinics
- Carry out BMI checks as directed
- Act as a chaperone as required
- When trained, undertake venepuncture
- When trained, administer flu vaccinations
- When trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervison of thepracticenurse
- Carry out ECGs as requested
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Provide support during minor operations as required
- Ensure the clinical area is adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from the clinical area and sharps bins replaced in accordance with thepracticeIPC policy
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
- Carry out any other tasks as directed by the leadnursein support of patientcare
Secondary Responsibilities
In addition to theprimaryresponsibilities, thehealthcareassistant may be requested to:
- Participate inpracticeaudit as directed by the aduit lead
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patientcare
- Support and participate in shared learning within thepractice
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
