Main duties of the job

As Deputy Head of Midwifery, you will:

  • Support the Head of Midwifery (HoM) in delivering strategic direction and operational oversight within maternity services.
  • Enhance safety and quality by implementing national and regional maternity recommendations.
  • Collaborate with key partners, including the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP), ensuring co-production and patient-centred care.
  • Provide visible, accessible leadership, mentoring and coaching staff to foster innovation, resilience and excellence in maternity care.
  • Lead on service user engagement, supporting responses to concerns and ensuring clear, compassionate communication with women and families.
  • Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring they are embedded in all service decisions.
