Job summary
Following the successful internal promotion of one of our valued team members, we are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our cardiac cath labs senior nursing team on a fixed term secondment as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse.
Our service comprises six cardiac catheterisation labs operating Monday to Friday, 08:00-18:00. You will be joining a visible, supportive, and forward thinking leadership team, working closely with another Band 7 nurse and our Clinical Practice Educator to ensure an excellent experience for our patients, staff, and wider stakeholders.
As Senior Staff Nurse, you will support the Cardiac Cath Labs and Day Ward Senior Nursing Leadership team in providing strategic direction and professional leadership, contributing to the ongoing development of both the service and the workforce. You will be expected to undertake a broad range of clinical and administrative duties, working autonomously as well as under the direction of the Cardiac Cath Labs Manager and Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse.
You will act as a credible and visible role model across the Cardiac Cath Labs, Day Ward and Recovery areas, supporting registered and unregistered members of the team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.
You will also be expected to uphold and embody Trust values, advocating for patients and promoting their involvement in the planning, delivery and evaluation of their care, while respecting their wishes, beliefs and dignity.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients with support from senior staff
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care
- To perform safe effective care for patients requiring advanced clinical skills
- To provide a safe patient environment at all times
- Recognise when changes in patient's condition occur and take appropriate action including reporting to the nurse in charge
- Assist in carrying out extended roles under supervision to ensure best clinical practice, this includes: - acting as a scrub or circulating nurse to assist the doctor during invasive cardiac procedures, which include coronary angiography, pacemaker implant, PCI, TAVI, CTO, Rotablation, ASD/PFO closures, ablation and othercomplex cardiac invasive procedures
- Able to perform venepuncture and cannulation following appropriate training
