Pharmacy Senior Assistant Technical Officer - Cancer Clinical Trials Band 3

We are looking for an individual to join our friendly, patient-centred team to help deliver the pharmacy clinical trials service, working at the heart of Cancer Research and Innovation at UHNM. This key role will be a central part of the Cancer Pharmacy Clinical Trials team, pre-dominantly based in the RSUH Cancer Centre as well as working across RSUH and County sites to provide an excellent service to patients, trial sponsors and a range of trust teams including Cancer Pharmacy, Research and Innovation and wider multi-disciplinary teams.

We will provide all necessary training and support for the right candidate to develop in this job role and their future career at UHNM.

Main duties of the job

  • To dispense medications to patients, after receiving appropriate training and following the appropriate written procedures
  • To hand out medicines to patients following appropriate training
  • To order and receive clinical trial drugs, process receipt paperwork and acknowledge receipt on IVRS (Electronic Medication Supply) systems following the appropriate written procedures
  • To assist in the creation of trial specific SOPs and documentation under supervision
  • To check stock levels and expiry dates of clinical trial drugs and keep balance logs up to date following appropriate SOPs
  • Assist with trial close out, medicines destruction and archiving trial documents following specific written procedures
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with any recommendations arising from Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) inspections relating to clinical trials.
  • Support the implementation of the Research Governance Framework and the Research and Innovation Strategy within the Pharmacy Directorate and the UHNM.
