Job summary

Terms of Appointment: Fixed term/Secondment for until 31 March 2029. Individuals who hold permanent (substantive) employment within the NHS may be appointed via secondment. Approval for a secondment must be obtained from your current line manager prior to submitting an application.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Evaluation team within the Research and Evaluation Division at Public Health Wales. The post holder will deliver rigorous evaluations of public health interventions, including digital health services, within a complex public health system. They will apply advanced quantitative and quasi-experimental methods, such as stepped-wedge designs, and contribute to economic and process evaluations to generate robust, actionable evidence. This is a unique opportunity to work within the NHS, producing insights that inform public health policy and practice.

Main duties of the job

The right person for the role will have highly developed specialist knowledge of complex quantitative analytical approaches, alongside a good understanding of qualitative and mixed-methods approaches in a public health-related field. You will have a strong background in data, statistics, research design, data collection, analysis and interpretation. Experience of evaluation design, theories of change and evaluation frameworks would be advantageous. The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, experience of working collaboratively across disciplines, and the ability to provide technical leadership in delivering robust evaluation in a complex and dynamic environment.

This role sits within a supportive, multidisciplinary team in a Directorate with a strong focus on evidence, evaluation, data and data science in public health.
