Job summary

We are looking for a confident,compassionateand visible Ward Manager to lead one of our inpatient wards at St Mark's Hospital in Maidenhead. This is an exciting time to join the service as we continue to develop the patient serviceat St Mark'sHospital, including the opening of a new ward.

The ward provides care for adults with a wide range of medical, rehabilitation and elderly care needs. Our patients are referred from both acute hospital and community settings, and the team works closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to support recovery,independenceand safe discharge.

As Ward Manager, you will provide strong day-to-day clinical and operational leadership, supportinghigh standardsof care, patient safety, staffdevelopmentand effective ward flow. You will work closely with the Clinical Matron and wider leadership team and will be expected to take the nurse in charge role alongside the Clinical Matron as part of the ward's leadership arrangements.

We are looking for someone who is approachable,organisedand able to lead with kindness and clarity. You will be confident in supporting staff, managing quality and safety, and working with partners across the system to deliver safe, effective care for patients.

The role includes working office hours across the week, with one weekend in four, supporting visible leadership and safe running of the ward across the wider seven-day service.

Main duties of the job

  • The Ward Manager will provide clinical,professionaland operational leadership for the ward, working closely with the Clinical Matron, multi-disciplinaryteamand wider service leads.
  • Lead the day-to-day running of the ward,maintainingsafe staffing, effective patientflowandhigh standardsof care.
  • Take onclinical shifts asthe nurse in charge role as part of the ward's leadership arrangements.
  • Provide visible leadership and support to staff, promoting a positive team culture,good communicationand professional development.
  • Oversee quality,safetyand governance processes, ensuring risks, incidents,complaintsand learning are managed appropriately.
  • Support safe admission,rehabilitationand discharge planning by working closely with patients, families,carersand system partners.
  • Contribute to service improvement,auditand change, helping the ward continue to develop as part of the wider community inpatient service.
  • Work one weekend in four, supporting visible senior nursing leadership across the service.

Job description

The 3/4 must haves for you to be considered for this role:

  • Registered adult nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Experience of leading a ward,teamor service area, with the ability to support staff andmaintainsafe, high-quality care.
  • Able to embody our Trust values of being Caring, Committed and Together.
  • Confident using digital systems and able to work flexibly, including one weekend in four during office hours.
