The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (SRU) is a purpose-built, 21-bed specialist facility dedicated to helping patients recover lost skills and regain independence following a stroke. At the heart of SRU is a robust MDT where specialist doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists, rehabilitation and nursing assistants work in close collaboration.

Main duties of the job

Responsible, as part of a team, for the day-to-day management of patients on our Ward 4 Stroke Rehabilitation Unit based at the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and in outpatient services for Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine patients.

Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients within the Stroke Rehabilitation Medicine service.

Leadership to junior staff Shared role in delivery of teaching and training Active participation in quality improvement, audit and research activities of these services Keeping up to date and participating in continuing professional development Participation in annual appraisals
