Job summary
As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder willcontribute to the delivery of patients' individual care under thedirection and supervision of a registered nurse.
The ATTR Healthcare Support Worker demonstrates a level ofskill and understanding which enables them to undertakespecific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and inaccordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies.S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasksfor which they have been trained and assessed as competent.Tasks include but are not limited to, preparing patients forprocedures such as MRI, measuring vital signs, assistant withdiagnostic procedures such as bone marrow examinations,performing venepuncture, 6 minute walking tests and ECGs.
Assist with the induction, supervision and training anddevelopment of Band 2 Nursing Assistants under thesupervision of a registered nurse.
There is the opportunity to develop within the role andundertake further training and development.
To act as a role model for student nurses and colleagues
This post will be fixed term/secondment for 23 months.
Main duties of the job
Maintain a professional behaviour at all times and promote a positive image of RoyalFree London NHS Foundation Trust at all times, in line with the shared commitments.To assist the staff in the delivery of direct patient care.To undertake skilled nursing activities, under guidance from a registerednurse/allied health professional/clinical technician, for which training andcompetency assessment has been undertaken. These activities can include, but are not limited to;Electrocardiography (ECG) and placement/removal of Holter monitors, 6 minutewalking tests, and routine vital signs measurementsPrepare patients for procedures, such as cardiac MRI; checking eGFR, completing safety questionnaires, ensuring patients are free of metal clips, cardiac devices, cochlear implants etc
Document/record appropriate information in the clinical databaseAssist medical staff with clinical procedures such as fat aspirates and bone marrow examinations
