Job summary

Reporting to the Executive Nurse, you will lead the development and delivery of safeguarding systems, policies and practices across Rainbows. Acting as the organisation's safeguarding expert, you'll provide advice, education and support to staff, volunteers and leaders while ensuring compliance with safeguarding legislation, Health and Social Care requirements and CQC standards.

You'll play a key role in embedding a culture of vigilance, professional curiosity and continuous improvement, ensuring safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.

Main duties of the job

This is a pivotal role where you'll be the organisation's expert on safeguarding children, young people and adults, providing strategic direction, professional advice and assurance across all areas of the hospice.

Job description

Location: Rainbows Hospice, Loughborough and across the East Midlands

Salary: £29,343 pro-rated (£48,905 FTE)

Hours: 22.5 (3 days out of 5)

You will:

  • Lead safeguarding strategy, policy development and compliance across the organisation.
  • Act as Rainbows' Safeguarding Lead and subject matter expert for safeguarding children, young people and adults.
  • Provide expert support and guidance on complex safeguarding concerns and referrals.
  • Deliver safeguarding supervision, training and workforce development programmes.
  • Lead organisational compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) and PREVENT responsibilities.
  • Produce safeguarding audits, reports and assurance documentation for senior leadership, governance committees and trustees.
  • Represent Rainbows within safeguarding partnerships, multi-agency forums and professional networks.
  • Drive learning, quality improvement and best practice arising from audits, incidents and reviews.
