Job summary
North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board is seeking an experienced and ambitious senior leader to take forward a key strategic role within our Commissioning function.Reporting to the Director of Commissioning (secondary care, northernalliance), this post will lead effective contracting and commissioningarrangements, promote integration and improve outcomes for the secondary care services.

Main duties of the job
The role will be critical in ensuring that the ICB effectively commissions and contracts all services it is responsible for, ensuring ongoing service evaluation and re-design as appropriate in line with the critical functions of an Integrated Care Board.
Job description
The postholder will:
- Support relevant Boards, Partnerships and Committees, deputising for the Director of Commissioning and multi-professional leadership team as required, co-ordinating relevant input into such meetings.
- Hold ICB corporate responsibility for the identified sector, covering all required ICB functions and professional inputs. Lead their team, providing strategic leadership and chairing specific meetings as appropriate. This will be within an agreed scheme of delegation with the Director of Commissioning.
- Be responsible for ensuring statutory regulations, national regulations and other relevant regulations are adhered to relating to the sector.
- Coordinate the work of the sector team to ensure that the ICB exercises its functions effectively, efficiently, economically, with good governance and in accordance with the terms of the ICB constitution and schemes of delegation. The role includes providing assurance that responsibilities are discharged effectively and economically, developing robust governance arrangements tomanage delegated resources and joint decision making where relevant.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.
With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.
The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.
