Job summary

We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated Highly Specialist Adult Diabetes Nurse (Clinical Lead) to join our Diabetes Service on a 9-month secondment. This is an exciting opportunity for an expert diabetes practitioner to provide clinical leadership and specialist support, driving excellence in diabetes care across the service.

The post holder will work autonomously to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex diabetes needs, delivering high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care. As the clinical lead for the service, you will provide expert advice and support to colleagues across the multidisciplinary team, promoting best practice, service development, and improved patient outcomes.

Working closely with key stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing diabetes services, contributing to education, quality improvement, and the implementation of innovative models of care. The role combines advanced clinical practice, leadership, service development, and staff education to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and responsive diabetes care for our population.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver advanced assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with diabetes.
  • Provide expert clinical decision-making and specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead service improvement, quality improvement, audit and research activities.
  • Develop and deliver education and training for healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the operational and strategic development of the diabetes service.
  • Work collaboratively across organisational and system boundaries to improve patient care.
