Band 7 Parkinson's Disease Specialist Nurse, 21 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Neurology Service to continue to develop and deliver a specialist service for patients with Parkinson's disease across North Cumbria.

The post holder will offer expert advice and information to people with Parkinson's in order to facilitate and support self-management of their condition. They will act as an expert resource for other health professionals working with people with Parkinson's and take a lead role in the holistic assessment of patients.

The service operates within a clinic environment or within patient's homes, care homes and inpatient settings across North Cumbria. The successful applicant will work with other Parkinson's nurses, managing their own caseload of patients and provide a link in the care of people with PD between acute and community services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a forward thinking Band 7 Nurse with a strong interest in Parkinson's disease and experience in managing patients across community and acute settings.

Key responsibilities and requirements are:

Caseload Management:Managing an autonomous clinical caseload across North Cumbria, providing expert assessments and non-medical prescribing to adjust and optimize medication.

Patient & Carer Support:Providing emotional support, symptom management advice, and education from the initial diagnosis throughout the condition.

Multidisciplinary Working:Liaising closely with neurologists, geriatricians, therapists, and primary care teams to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Education & Training: Acting as an expert resource to mentor junior staff, care home professionals, and students.
