Job summary

Are you a passionate Nurse Colposcopist looking for your next opportunity? If so then we want to hear from you! We are looking for an experienced nurse colposcopist who is passionate about service delivery and patient experience.The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner in colposcopy and will have in depth knowledge of national and local colposcopy/screening policies and guidelines. They will give appropriate specialist advice, they will also assess diagnose pre-cancerous/cancerous changes on the cervix and give appropriate treatment, and follow up care.The post holder will be required to supervise qualified and unqualified staff. The post holder is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of care for patients referred to colposcopy in line with the NHSCSP guidelines. (National Health Service Cervical Screening Programme). In conjunction with the lead consultant they will manage the delivery of a colposcopy unit.The post holder will support, manage, and develop and represent the views of the specialist nurse colposcopists, colposcopy nurses and other support staff within the colposcopy unit. The post holder will lead and contribute to the overall standards and quality of service provision in the organisation and support the failsafe process in conjunction with the Lead Colposcopist, by being a positive role model and to treat all staff, visitors and service users with courtesy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Lead Consultant Colposcopist and Cervical Screening Programme Lead in the delivery of a high-quality, efficient colposcopy service that meets regional and national standards.

They will manage a defined caseload, providing compassionate, patient-centred care that reflects the needs of patients, service users, and healthcare professionals, while promoting positive outcomes and experiences.

The role involves delivering expert clinical care alongside emotional, psychological, and educational support. Using advanced communication skills and health promotion strategies, the post holder will empower women to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical practice within complex care pathways, undertaking the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of women referred to the service. This includes taking clinical histories, requesting and interpreting investigations, performing examinations and colposcopy, and developing appropriate management plans.

The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based care and supporting service development and multidisciplinary working.
