The post will focus on smoking and social housing, working across both Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) and the core Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley (YSFB) service. This role represents a key opportunity to strengthen our public health offer and reduce smoking prevalence within priority communities.

This position is funded through the government grant provided to local authorities to support current smokers to quit.

We are seeking applicants who have an understanding of supporting individuals through behaviour change techniques and the use of pharmacotherapy across a range of intervention settings. Experience of delivering onetoone treatment interventions is desirable. We also welcome applications from individuals without the relevant qualifications who are willing to complete the required training.

If you are a nonsmoker, have strong work ethics, and are passionate about empowering people to make positive life changes, we would be keen to hear from you.

We are a successful, friendly, and forward thinking and passionate team. You will be fully supported in this role, and we believe this is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

All employees of the Trust are strongly encouraged to have their up-to-date flu vaccination to protect staff and patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work across Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) social housing settings for two days per week and within the wider YSFB service for three days per week, delivering tailored stop smoking support. This is a key opportunity to make a meaningful impact in priority communities, helping individuals access personalised support and empowering them to lead healthier, smoke-free lives.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for empowering people to make positive lifestyle changes. You should be confident working independently, managing your own workload and clinics, while also contributing positively to a supportive and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will use your knowledge and interpersonal skills to guide smokers through their quit journey and provide ongoing support to help them stay smoke-free.

At the time of advertising, this role does not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK. For this reason, we are unable to sponsor anyone for a skilled worker visa for this role.

We are happy to accept applications from candidates who can prove their right to work in the UK or via alternative visa routes. Such applications will be considered alongside all other applications.
