Job summary

The post-holder will provide assessments and interventions in the CAMHS Early Years' (CAMHS EY) Service to pre-school children meeting service criteria. This role will offer a service predominantly across the East (Lichfield, Tamworth and Burton) of the CAMHS Early Years' service but will include working across the South Staffordshire area, as required.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to a thorough assessment of children referred to the service.

To provide specialist assessment and interventions for young children with emotional or behaviour problems referred to the service.,

To identify the nature, severity and complexity of children's presenting and developing mental health problems.

To be alert to possible physical health presentations and to give advice or signpost as appropriate, within professional practice guidelines.

To formulate and implement plans for intervention within the scope of professional practice guidelines.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility, within professional practice guidelines and subject to experiences.

To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients.

To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of patients and monitor progress during their treatment within the services.

To manage a caseload effectively and to maintain adequate records of clinical work in accordance with Trust and Service standards.

To work with clients to develop a joint understanding of their problems and support those in accessing appropriate interventions using shared decision making.

To inform service users about additional support that may be appropriate. Where appropriate, to make referrals to appropriate agencies in consultation and communication with the client's GP and to liaise as appropriate with those agencies.

Job description

The post-holder will provide assessments and interventions in the CAMHS Early Years (Camhs EY) Service to pre-school children meeting service criteria. This role will offer a service predominantly across the East (Lichfield, Tamworth and Burton) of the CAMHS Early Years service but will include working across the South Staffordshire area, as required.

The role will involve assessments leading to formulations of distress, development of care plans, the delivery of interventions to this population and use of Outcome Measures and Feedback Tools to evaluate service effectiveness, under clinical supervision.

The post will focus on addressing or alleviating the effects of young childrens emotional and behaviour problems and parent-child attachment difficulties. Interventions will include delivery of group parenting programmes. The post-holder will be expected to participate fully in the delivery of such programmes and to undertake training and supervision as required to support such delivery. The CAMHS EY service pays close attention to parent-child attachments. The post-holder will deliver interventions, as appropriate, to support child attachment.

The post-holder will be involved in the implementation of service evaluation, as required, in line with the CAMHS Outcomes Research Consortium (CORC) and CYP-IAPT developments.

The post holder will be required to work in clinic and community settings such as nurseries, schools and Family Hubs and with children and parents in their own homes. They will also be required to attend Team or Service meetings in Stafford/Burton.
