Job summary
As a Nurse Team Leader, you will provide visible clinical leadership for plasma collection services, leading a team of Plasma Healthcare Associates to deliver safe, high-quality care and an outstanding donor experience. As the lead nurse on session, you will use your clinical expertise to make donor eligibility decisions, oversee complex clinical situations, and ensure compliance with professional, regulatory and quality standards. You will play a key role in developing and supporting your team through coaching, supervision and performance management, creating a positive and inclusive culture where colleagues can thrive. Working closely with the Plasma Operations Manager, you will drive continuous improvement, maintain donor and product safety, and help ensure lifesaving plasma is collected to meet the needs of patients across the UK.
Main duties of the job
- Lead and inspire the plasma collection team to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality services that meet operational and regulatory standards.
- Act as the clinical lead during collection sessions, making expert donor eligibility decisions and supporting colleagues throughout the donation journey.
- Champion excellent donor care, ensuring every donor has a positive and supportive experience.
- Monitor performance and support the achievement of service objectives, quality standards, and key performance indicators.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, supervision, and performance conversations.
- Investigate, manage, and escalate clinical incidents, adverse events, risks, and quality concerns, taking appropriate corrective action.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance activities, maintaining readiness for regulatory reviews.
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and change initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and service delivery.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to share best practice and improve outcomes.
- Deputise for the Plasma Operations Manager and support neighbouring teams when required.
