Main duties of the job

The post is with Cedar Ward, which is a 15 bed male enhanced rehabilitation ward for individuals who require additional support to manage their mental health and risk behaviours before being able to move forward in their pathway.

The team work with an MDT approach at the centre of the programme with the therapeutic programme being collaboratively ran with occupational therapists, psychology, nursing & medical staff. Life skills are at the centre of the programme in order to encourage independence and social inclusion. Many service users within the ward experience low motivation, therefore, the post holder will require a patient and motivating attitude in order to engage the service users in therapeutic programmes and maintain interest. In addition to this, the post holder will need to have the confidence and knowledge to promote the occupational therapy role in order to maintain the multidisciplinary approach and support service users in setting realistic & graded goals.
