Job summary

We are looking for a self-motivated and committed Dietitian to provide maternity cover across both the Oncology and Acute Stroke teams.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a high-quality dietetic service to the population of Ipswich and East Suffolk. You will be a key member of the Dietetic team, working across both Oncology and Stroke services within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Our Dietetic Department consists of 26 Dietitians and eight Dietetic Support Staff, providing services across both acute and community settings. The team is supported by dedicated administrative and secretarial staff. You will receive regular clinical supervision and have access to a wide range of continuing professional development opportunities, including work shadowing, tutorials and external courses, tailored to your individual learning needs and objectives.

We are a well-recognised department for student training in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, and you will play an active role in supporting student education. We currently have one apprentice dietitian within the department. The Trust is also committed to advancing Allied Health Professional (AHP) research and has recently secured additional resources to further support research opportunities across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The stroke component of the role involves providing dietetic care to a 20-bed specialist Stroke Unit. You will be an active member of the established multidisciplinary team (MDT), helping to maintain the high profile of dietetics within the service and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The post also includes experience within Oncology Dietetics, offering an excellent opportunity to broaden your specialist knowledge while maintaining an acute clinical focus. You will work as part of the Oncology MDT alongside experienced specialist dietitians, gaining exposure to a range of specialist areas including home enteral tube feeding, head and neck cancer, and other oncology services.

You will also work closely with Assistant Practitioners and Technical Instructors across both clinical areas, supporting collaborative working and high-quality patient care.

This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to manage a varied and busy workload. We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, is proactive, and is keen to support colleagues while contributing to the ongoing development of our service.
