Job summary

The Suffolk Perinatal Community Mental Health Team are seeking to recruit a psychology graduate for a full-time Assistant Psychologist post. The applicant must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, a psychology degree with 2.1 or above and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. Travel is part of the role and being a car driver is essential.

Within your role you will contribute to psychological assessments, formulations and interventions under the supervision of a Clinical psychologist. You will be required to work independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified Psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. You will assist in clinically related administration including audits and collection of statistics and will also lead on the promotion, collection and interpretation of ROMS in the team.You will receive weekly supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

We are a countywide service, committed to improving the wellbeing of parents and their babies. We offer assessment and treatment to women with moderate to severe mental health difficulties who are either pregnant or within the first post-natal year (increasing to 24 months in some circumstances). You will be joining an established psychology team consisting of three clinical psychologists, a CBT therapist and parent-infant psychotherapists.

We are committed to keeping the family at the centre of care and normalising the experience of pregnancy and becoming a parent.We have a philosophy of early intervention and ensure that we capture the babies voice in the work that we do. Our aim is to reduce barriers to accessing services and aim to empower and build confidence in our service users.

Research and QI opportunities are available and encouraged. We have a close relationship with the doctoral training course at the University of East Anglia and our future aim is to offer several placements within our expanding team.
